Formentera

Formentera is the smallest and most southerly of the Balearic Islands of Spain. This small island is one of the last remaining paradises of the Mediterranean. Its main attractions are its gorgeous beaches with crystal-clear waters and its unspoiled nature. The island is flat and sandy with magnificent, unspoilt beaches. There are a few places where the land rises to present spectacular cliffs to the sea. It is perfect for cycling, walking, snorkelling and sailing. Its cultural attractions include some megalithic sites, a roman road, some watch-towers, the 18th century chapel of Sant Francesc Xavier and a small Ethnological museum. Most of the small villages and even the capital, San Francesc Xavier, have a rural character. Only the town of Es Pujols is a little bit more touristic. If you want to see Spain as it was before, then visit Formentera.
